Known at the time as a preeminent fashion and portrait photographer, Richard Avedon was commissioned in 1978 by the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, TX, to document life in the American West. The result was an exhibition of 123 life-size photographs mounted at the Amon Carter and a book called In the American West, 1979-1984.

Laura Wilson was one of Avedon's three assistants for the project. The book, organized like a travel journal, contains her photos of Avedon, his subjects, and their surroundings along with handwritten notes and letters from family members of some of his portrait subjects.

Mixed within her narrative are technical notes and descriptions of Avedon's physical and personal process.

Enjoy,

It is with a very sad heart that I have to tell you that Adam Yauch, better known as MCA, of the Beastie Boys has lost his battle with cancer. The legendary MC who called New York City home, has influenced MC’s since he first stepped on the scene, putting together the Beastie Boys in 1979. Mr. Yauch was not only known for his mic skills, the MC also took time out to be a part of the Tibetan independence movement via the Milarepa Fund, co-founded by himself. Adam also directed many of the Beastie Boys’ videos and produced a bunch of their classic tracks.

Today hip hop lost one of its pioneers, supporters, and role models. We will never forget you Adam Yauch, you were the first voice that I ever heard rap, the album was Licensed To Ill, the track was “Brass Monkey”. We will forever miss you homie, thanks for the memories!

Signed, Jesse James

This Glen E. Friedman book came about due to the insistence of many of the his friends and fans who wanted to see the out takes and extras of all of the different people he had shot over the years, particularly those who were not included in FUCK YOU HEROES

From the early skateboarding days at the West Lost Angeles (DogTown) school yards and the infamous Dog Bowl, to the Punk shows and riots in Hollywood and CBGB’s, from the gangster ridden streets of the Compton Hip-Hop scene to the Hollis neighborhood of Queens New York that brought the world Run-DMC and Jam Master Jay, all the way through more recent band photo sessions, to his Liberty Street protest at Ground Zero in New York City.

Enjoy,

Enjoy,

Sir Bob

Now this is something we were after, it’s not the bloody beetroots hard stuff as you may be use to, this is a chilled remix of Theophilus London ‘Why even Try’. – and works a treat too.

It’s quite magical, best of the bunch of remixes which is quite impressive, Skream, Crookers, Brodinski, Fred Falke, Disco Pusher Silascopathic and more, what a sensational remix package right there.

Gavin Watson grew up in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, photographing the people he knew and the gangs they hung out with. In his latest book Skins and Punks, Watson captures two of the country’s most iconic subcultures as they come to life in the dreary climate of 1980s Britain. As This is England director Shane Meadows comments in the foreword, ‘What makes Gavin’s photos so special is that when you look at them, there’s clearly trust from the subject towards the photographer so it feels like you’re in the photo rather than just observing’.

Enjoy Sir Bob
